Stanley Adair & Sugar Rush
“A Craft in the Making” The Art of Making
Music And Mandolins.
   By; Pamela Diane Whitten
Stanley Adair has been in the field of music  and
the entertainment busy for a few years now and
has shared the stage with many well know artist but
nothing compares to taking the stage with his son
Heath. A few years ago while traveling with close
friend and fellow  artist Marty Raybon, former lead
singer of the award winning Country group
Shenandoah. Heath got  to  attend  the  event in
Memphis TN. While traveling back to their Home
just outside Haleyville AL, Heath ask his dad if he
would buy him a mandolin, for he had been so
impressed by the music that evening and the
mandolin that he just had to have one. This was
the beginning of  his love with music and the
mandolin.
Within a few months Heath was traveling and performing  with his dad and  they  formed
what is now the “Stanley Adair & Sugar Rush” Bluegrass Group,…
Heath now wears a couple of hats in the group as he also sings harmony, and  plays
harmonica  and fiddle. He and his dad has a great blend of harmony as natural as it
comes being a father and son team. Although the mandolin is with out a doubt  Heath’s
main instrument and his first love he is able to alternate between them each in their live
shows, and this is very much a crowd pleaser. Their latest  project release,  simple entitled
“The Grass”  show cases both the talent of their great harmonies as well as some great
picking and  features the writing ability of  Heath as he wrote the title cut “Lonesome
Sound Of My Heart.”  This Album also includes a few cuts a with  some of the best talent
that Nashville has to offer from Aubrey Haney smooth fills on the fiddle to a few guitar licks
from the great Brian Sutton.
Heath began playing at the young age of eleven and by age fifteen had began playing full
time in the group. He not only had the skill an making of a great mandolin player but by
this time had completed his first build of what would become his on line of mandolins
“Adair Mandolins”  The F-Style Mandolins with their rich spruce tops and curly maple sides
and back,  have a full range of tones, that can hold it’s own on any stage. With plenty of
volume and stylish three colors paints, for a blend of colors second to none this mandolin
is sure to please anyone from the  accomplished artist to the beginner. These mandolins
are constructed from only the best choices of  woods that are hand picked from start to
finish and they undergo a level eye for a perfect body and finish. The necks are also hand
crafted to the fill of each  artist. It does however take a few months to get one but the wait
will be well worth it!

In the world of bluegrass there is nothing better than to see  a
young person tune in to the sounds of bluegrass “Stanley Adair.”
Heath’s had some great opportunities in a short time but one that
he has longed for  some time, took place in June this year the
opportunity to play with one of bluegrass and Country’s best “Marty
Raybon.” At the Russellville AL, high school football stadium, at the
Neighbors Helping Neighbors a concert for the victims of the  2011
tornado out break, got that opportunity.
